Judge John Lockwood is currently the Town Justice in Glenville and has held that position since 2023. Prior to becoming the Town Justice, he served as the Scotia Village Justice for several years. He is a licensed attorney and has been practicing law since 2007.
Judge Lockwood began his legal career with the Schenectady County Public Defender’s Office where he handled various criminal and family law matters. In 2012 he moved over to the Schenectady County Attorney’s Office where he prosecuted Article 10 abuse and neglect cases in Family Court. While at the County Attorney’s Office he was promoted to First Deputy County Attorney and chief prosecutor of child abuse and neglect cases. In 2016 he left to go work at the New York State Office of Children and Family Services as their Special Counsel of Ethics Risk and Compliance and currently serves as the Director of their Albany Regional Office.
Judge Lockwood is a 1999 graduate of Scotia-Glenville High School. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Salve
Regina University and a law degree from Roger Williams University. He resides in Glenville with his wife Patricia and their four children.
